My kids love almost everything I get here. Not going to let them know it's all good for them!
It's a much smaller Asian grocery store than I'd like to have nearby, but they carry the essentials of the cosine, as well as ridiculously cheap produce (they had a bag of prepped white onions for a buck!). We'll be going back frequently. The woman managing the store was also very friendly, so worth noting.
Love the selection and prices... only place I have found fresh lemongrass bulbs and Thai eggplants in the area. Plus their spice game is on point! Been shopping here since I was a kid and will continue to give them my business and support!
Don't get me wrong, I like the luxury of being able to get stuff locally when in pinch, but the shady things they do, and their attitude towards customers leaves me no choice but to shop elsewhere. There's a bigger asian market in Sarasota called Phuc loc Thou, that would be my new go-to place now.
When we first moved to Bradenton, we were glad to have found an asian market nearby. Despite pretty poor production selection, when you need basic stuff that will get you by for the time being, this place was okay. But let me tell you what's bad about them.
1. customer service is terrible, or nonexistent I should say. The white lady is okay. But the old Chinese lady or whatever she is, she is frigging rude, like, off the chart rude. You ask her anything, she snaps at you. You just can't ask for anything. You need to know what the hell you want, grab what you want, check out and get the hell out. don't expect any help or kind gesture.
IF I CAN GIVE 0 STARS, I WOULD. THIS PLACE HAS NO CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. WE WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. THEY HAVE VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ASKED THIS MIDDLE AGE LADY THAT WORKS THERE FOR HELP AND SHE WAS NOT PLEASANT. SHE JUST NODS AND HAVE NO EYE CONTACT. I ASKED IF THEY HAVE ANY VERMICELLI NOODLES. HER RESPONSE: I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS. SHE KEPT REPEATING THAT OVER AND OVER. BEING ALL STUPID AND TELLING ME SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. NEVER LOOKING OR SHOWING ANY INTEREST IN HELPING ME. VERY RUDE! WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I WOULD RATHER GO TO SARASOTA OR ST. PETERSBURG.
2. they sell expired stuff, knowingly. Tofu was expired for about a month, they are still in the fridge. Really? Tofu's are one of the most perishable items they sell and they sell it 30 day past the EXP date. How ridiculous is that.? Also, they use this other shady method of rubbing off expiration date off the package. One time, I bought a few bags of snacks. I never gave it a much thought, but when I got home, nutritional info sticker on the back was a little wet and jagged looking. Turns out, they used alcohol or some liquidy stuff to rub off the printed EXP date off the bag. Upon examining with bright headlight, the expiration date they removed was about 3-4 months back. HOW SHADY IS THAT? I have not seen any grocery store doing this. I've seen some stores selling items at a huge discount if they are expired, but not this SHADY.
